January 2018
It was a busy spring, finishing up the last of my Faerie Knitting book tour with my cousin Alice Hoffman.
We traveled to Hershey, Pennsylvania to give a presentation for National Library Week. Everyone there was so welcoming. We had a lovely lunch, then spoke to a full room of very interested readers and knitters. Usually fans bring Alice's novels for her signature, but I was so impressed when someone came wearing one of my scarf designs!
Then we went west to Santa Barbara for Vogue Knitting's Words, Wool and Wine destination tour. We shared the weekend with Debbie Macomber and Cecilia Campochiaro. Yes we drank well, but we also met so many lovely fans. I taught a great class on knitting the Blue Heron Shawl and every student went home happy!
HATS/HATS/HATS
This winter, all I seem to be knitting is hats! Chunky hats, simple hats, sparkly hats, Cashmere and Wool and Mohair hats. Many have pom-poms, because it's a huge trend and String has a multitude of fun colors to choose from. We made tons of fun kits to sell at Vogue Knitting Live NYC in January and many sold out before the end of the weekend.
My favorite is the Annette hat (modeled by the beautiful Alison J Weiss). I designed a band of cashmere with crystal sparkles in a slipped stitch to make a warm and great fitting headband, then sts are picked up for the crown.
All patterns are free with yarn purchase at String
The Cable Cashmere Hat pattern is available to purchase from my Ravelry page.

KNITTING RETREAT 2017 ETHELRIDGE ROAD KNITTING SALON NORTH IN STEPHENSTOWN, NEW YORK
July 30th and 31st We had a delightful Knitting and Literary Journey! Expanding on our collaboration of the Faerie Knits column for Faerie Magazine , 13 amazing students joined me and my cousin, best selling author Alice Hoffman, for 2 days of extraordinary knitting instruction interspersed with literary readings, a writing workshop, and a fun faerie craft project.
I am so honored to have been asked to participate in the annual Ethelridge Road Knitting Salon retreat this year in the Berkshire Mountains - it was alot of fun, an educational experience all around , and a great few days with old and new friends.
I am so excited about the release of Faerie Knitting, and how I can now share it all with you. My cousin Alice Hoffman, who has writtten over 30 novels, has been such a great partner through this whole new experience of publishing with me, and I appreciate all her knowledge and awesome talent. We started out with a fantastic launch at Vogue Knitting Live in San Francisco at the end of September with the amazing support of Trisha Malcolm and her entire Vogue Knitting team. Our tour moved on to the Boston area, then New York City. We will be at Rhinebeck on Saturday, October 20th, doing a reading and booksigning from 1:00 in building B. An updated schedule of events is on my events page as well as our beautifully designed Faerie Knitting website.
